Mentoring

2014 Mentoring bannerWhat’s a Mentor?

A mentor is someone you can meet with who can help you make the changes you want in your life.

Your mentor can help you figure out what it is you want to change and then support and guide you through that change.

They will encourage you, help you challenge yourself and won’t judge you.

Normally you meet every week for a few weeks or months for 40 mins to an hour.

Who needs a Mentor?

All sorts of people choose to use mentors. Here’s just some of the reasons they do:

  • Struggling at school
  • Arguments at home
  • Doing things they want to stop like smoking, self-harm
  • Get better at something you enjoy
  • Problems with friends

Your mentor will be chosen to match as closely as possible the type of person you want.

To find out more or get a mentor contact Martina at mentoring@wvyp.org.uk or ask your school or youth club.

Our mentoring referral form can be downloaded here.

Our mentoring is accredited by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.
